I’ll admit it! I’m not the biggest fan of Paris. But even my curmudgeonly spirit can admit that there are lots of good reasons to visit the French capital, and I want to help by offering a few tips. And many of you might be planning to visit soon, especially considering that travel restrictions have all but dropped away since last summer.

It’s fair to guess that you probably already have a full list of sights to see: the Eiffel Tower at night, the Seine from the deck of a Bateau Mouche, the piano on the upper floor of Shakespeare and Co. bookshop. Will you play pétanque in the Luxembourg Gardens? Eat oysters in the 5th arrondissement? Sing in front of the Opéra Garnier? Complain about rude waiters after you’ve climbed the steps in Montmartre?

These are all great plans, but what you might not have considered is how much you might need a quick jolt of caffeine in between all the romantic vistas and cultured corners. Granted, there are cafés on nearly every corner of central Paris, but they are not all made the same. Here are a few recommendations to help you make the most of your coffee breaks.

  1. Café de Flore: Located in the iconic Saint-Germain des Prés neighborhood, this famous cafe is best known for its beautiful interior design and cozy atmosphere. Perfect for a leisurely afternoon coffee break!
